Dear Families,  

On Wednesday the 13th of August, the students in Grade 456 will be travelling to Triabunna District School for the 2025 Tour of Honour for the Young Tasmanian Australian of the Year recipients. The students will immerse themselves in this assembly and discover how young Tasmanians contribute to the advancement of society in Australia and the broader world. We will be attending this excursion as a whole class group and will depart Swansea Primary School at 11:30 am and return by 3:30pm.  

We will have the opportunity to meet, Sam Elsom (2025 Tas Australian of the Year) and Keren Franks (2025 Tas Local Hero). Unfortunately, Penny Blomfield (2025 Tas Senior Australian of the Year) will not be with us as Penny will be away working in New Zealand. However, we are looking to hopefully get a video from Penny that we can play at the pooled school visit in her absence. We may also have Ariarne Titmus with us (2025 Tas Young Australian of the Year). 

Itinerary: 

11:45am - depart SPS, travel by bus to Triabunna District School  

12:30pm - arrive at TDS.  

12:40pm - lunch, toilets and play at TDS   

1:30pm - 2:30pm-2025 Young Tasmanian Australian of the Year Honour Tour 

2:35pm- toilet break  

2:40pm- board the bus to return to SPS 

3:30pm - approximate return to SPS   

This excursion is a minor excursion and therefore we do not require for permission forms to be returned. If you would like any further information, or do not wish for your child to participate in this excursion, please contact us through the school office.
