From Kendal's Desk
As I’m sure you are all aware by now, I have been given the opportunity to continue in the role of Acting Principal at this wonderful school for term two. I am beyond excited and really looking forward to continuing to work with the students, staff, families and community.
Over the past few weeks our grade 3 and 5 students have completed 60 NAPLAN tests between them! They must be commended on their exceptional behaviour, dedication, and efforts in each session. We had one day with internet issues which threw us a real curve ball, but the students smashed that for six! We had one day that required rescheduling at the last minute due to outages nationwide resulting in structure changes across the school, which everyone dealt with sensationally. I take my hat off to our students for the amazing attitudes they have.
On Friday last week, it was a sea of green at Swansea as we supported the Jack Jumpers with their finals campaign. It was lovely to see so many students and staff in green and playing basketball together throughout the day. Congratulations to our best dressed prize winners: Wyatt, Amelia, Max, Piper, Emmett, Evie, Archie and Emily!
Every Wednesday and Friday morning during our Brekky and a Book program, students are encouraged to engage with each other to read together or have some quiet time to read their personal books. They have the option to grab some hot toast, fresh fruit, or yoghurt to ensure they have full tummies ready for learning. Students are more than welcome to bring books from home if they choose. It has been wonderful to see groups of different grades sitting and reading together, with our older students leading the way. Our grade 6s have also been helping to serve the breakfast each morning. Reading is a valuable skill that is taught in our classrooms through targeted Literacy every morning with our teachers completing further training recently to ensure we are providing optimal learning programs and environments.
On Wednesday April 10th, we will hold our end of term assembly. We would like to invite families to share in our whole school learning from 8:50am – 9:10am by joining us for our morning fitness/games. At the conclusion of this, our assembly will take place in the hall where everyone is welcome. We hope to have as many families present as possible as our Sports Captains are planning the morning session to be a special one.
Finally, I would like to wish our community a safe and happy Easter. Enjoy the extra time together, make new memories and stay safe. I look forward to seeing everyone back on Wednesday April 3rd.
Thanks for your continued support,
Kendal King
Principal
