There were around 750 convicts and 550 crew sent to Australia aboard the 11 ships of the First Fleet. 

Grade 3/4/5 have been focusing on the First Fleet in HASS this term, learning about the convicts, their crimes and the conditions they experienced upon their arrival in Australia.  We have researched individual convicts, creating fact files of their history, as well as life aboard the ships and life as a convict upon arrival in New South Wales. 

Our 6 convict transport ships: Scarborough, Alexander, Friendship, Lady Penrhyn, Charlotte and Prince of Wales, are currently wallowing in the doldrums, resting peacefully in our classroom.
