This Sunday the 4th of August
This Sunday is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day. A day to celebrate the strength and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
This year's theme is Strong in Culture, Stronger Together, which focuses on the strength of children that comes with their connection to culture and mob.
We support a world in which children are proud of their culture, empowered by their community and strong in their identity.
Shelley Ware is the 2024 National and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day ambassador.
Shelley is a proud Yankunyjatjara and Wirangu woman from Tarndanya/Adelaide, who currently lives in Naarm/Melbourne. She spent 25 years teaching at primary schools before moving to work in the media, but she still works part-time as an Aboriginal Education Officer.
