PRINCIPAL'S COMMUNICATION

It’s been a busy and fun fortnight at SPS! I've been on 4 excursions - two to the East Coast Heritage Museum, a home visit to meet a lovely past student - Mrs. Iris (Bub) Anderson and another to Huonville Primary School with some of our Grade 6 Leaders. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank:
- Mrs Anderson for her interview on what life was like at Swansea Primary School (82 years ago!)
- Maureen at the East Coast Heritage Museum for hosting us and welcoming us to the new exhibition (which is fantastic by the way) to learn more about how Swansea and school life has changed over time.
- And, last but not least, Ava, Arcena, Gabriel and Xearna for stepping outside of their comfort zone and participating with enthusiasm and pride as they represented Swansea Primary School at the Student Leaders Conference. I am super excited to see the impact all of our leaders have this year. Thank you to Lilly and Summa also for their encouragement and confidence during our recent Swan VS Oyster Athletics carnival. I am looking forward to heading down the highway again on Wednesday 10th March to watch all of the 3-6 students, participate in the Inter-Schools SPSSA Carnival. Pray for fine weather!
This week for the staff have been busier than usual too, with Progress Reports coming home today and Settling Interviews taking place next week. If you haven’t done so already, please book in a time to chat with your child’s teacher, just to touch base and to learn about your child’s personal and academic goals for the term/year ahead. All of our students are working very hard and your support in helping them to achieve their goals will be greatly appreciated.

This was one of the activities our student leaders participated in and shared when they got back to school. It was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to seeing how their teamwork skills develop over the course of the year.
Enjoy your long weekend everyone!
Kind regards,
Kristy Hay
