Can you believe we are at the end of Week 7 already? And, what a wonderful week of learning we have had. From numberlines to oral health, gardening and folk dancing! Our teaching staff are constantly learning too and have all participated in an abundance of Professional Learning that has been on offer. We started the week with Principal Education Officer for Curriculum: Mathematics, Paul Tabart, who delved into the question “What type of maths learners do we want our students to be?” Followed by Mrs Brown and Mrs Wells attending the state ‘Big Ideas In Number’ PL in Launceston, investigating four 'big ideas' of number – trusting the count, place value, multiplicative thinking, and multiplicative partitioning – and examined the 'micro-content' that contributes to a students development in Mathematics; and last but not least, I have been on two days of Professional Learning on ‘Leading for Well-being’, the annual Tasmanian Principal’s Association Conference. I have had the privilege of listening to world class keynote speakers and attending workshops about wellbeing and how to inspire others to continually strive to be the best that they can be, and, I am feeling very grateful and looking forward to returning back to school to share my new knowledge with our staff.
