Grade 3/4/5/6

Mathematics
In Maths we have been working in focus groups on understanding place value of big numbers.
Some students have been exploring square and triangular numbers and others have been investigating how to represent fractions, decimals and percentages.
Sometimes we play games to reinforce our understandings and develop our problem-solving skills and mathematics communication skills.
Art
In visual arts we have explored representations of emotions through warm and cool colours. We have created art folder designs that reflect the type of people we are.
English
Our spelling words are targeted to learn spelling patterns as well as words that are used frequently in our own writing. We’ve learnt about contractions and commonly confused words like there, their and they’re.
We have been talking a lot about our ideas for narrative writing in small groups and as a class. These discussions have helped us to share ideas, prepare our vocabulary and plan our stories.
Humanities and Social Sciences
Australia has many unique natural features. With a partner we have researched a natural place of our choosing. We found out why it is special, where it is, what the flora and fauna and climate is there and whether we would like to visit one day. Come and see the posters in our class that we have created!
Science
We have been creative and tried to apply our thoughts on how machines help people to design dream cars. Some of us entered our designs in the Toyota dream car competition.
