Zones of Regulation P/1 PE Activity
During Prep/1 PE this week our focus was on regulation and emotions, and identifying strategies to help us with emotions that we experience daily.
I emphasised that there is no such thing as 'good' or 'bad' emotions, and we as humans will experience emotions within all zones throughout our daily lives.
The tuning in activity was a freeze frame, I selected an emotion from the parachute (we thought of the parachute as being our brains and the balls as being emotions from the zones). Students had to use drama elements such as voice, expression and movement to represent the emotion.
We then practiced trying to balance all the emotions on the parachute: Flying Feelings. We learnt that it is very difficult to manage the emotions some times, but there are techniques to help- same goes with life etc.
We then played What might you do UNO. Where we had uno cards with various scenarios involving emotions from the zones. Students used drama to express strategies for various emotions.
After the activity students did a reflection on emotions and strategies they use for the emotions.
