SPSSA Winter Carnival Netball Tryouts

SPSSA Winter Sports Netball

On Thursday the 11th of August Millie and I went to Campania Primary School to the SPSSA Winter Sports Netball tryouts. At school Mrs Wells asked the 5/6’s if they wanted to play a sport and Millie and I said that we would try out for netball.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a coach, and she walked us to the area where we met all the other students and coaches. When we got to the court, we warmed up by playing a few games and having a bit of a run around.

We then split into groups to start playing games. We each got to play about 3-4 games.  I played the positions: WA, WD, GK, GS. I enjoyed all the positions but the one I think I was the best at was wing attack (WA) I enjoyed this position because I could run around but I couldn’t enter the goal circle. We had a break for a quick snack and drink but most of the girls kept practicing.

When everyone had eaten a quick snack and a quick drink we got back out on the court and had a few more games. When we finished, we had a quick chat with the coaches about when we would find out if we got in or not.

In the end I had a lot of fun, but I didn’t get in. Millie got in so I just want to say well done to her and I hope she has fun playing games and doing her best!

SPSSA Netball Training

On the 17th of August, I went to Sorell to participate in the South Green SPSSA Netball training.

I was selected at the tryouts that Ivy and I participated in last week.

At the start, we all stood in a circle and said our name, which school we were from, our grade, our age, and our dogs name (if we had one.) We practised passing to warm up.

Towards the end, we played a full court game. Our coach put us into different positions to see which ones we were the strongest in.

Overall, it was a successful training and I look forward to the Winter Carnival on Tuesday the 23rd of August at Creek Road playing for the South Green team.
