Middle Primary
Middle Primary have spent their maths lessons focussing on grouping numbers this fortnight. Following morning attendance, we analyse how many students are in the classroom. We then determine whether we can place this number of students into equal groups. We have looked at mathematical vocabulary including odd, even, equal, groups, multiplication and division. We are beginning to understand the relationship between addition, doubles and groups of two. We know that the multiplication symbol means groups of and that the division symbol means sharing into groups. Students have used concrete materials to represent this learning, including unifix cubes, paddle pop sticks and themselves!
This week we also farewell Eliana from Grade 1. Eliana has been a deligtful member of our class and we wish her and her family all the very best on their new adventure!
