Dear parents, families and community members,
Can I just say wow! I think you will all join me in saying what an amazing production we have just witnessed. First of all, well done to all of our brave students for getting on stage and putting on an amazing performance. So much goes into a production like this, from the props, the music, dancing, makeup, set design, rehearsals, lighting, the list goes on and on!
I was delighted to see all of our students given the chance to perform in the musical. Being inclusive for all was our goal and we well and truly achieved this. Seeing all students on stage for our opening number was definitely a highlight for me from the musical! This year, our production has been more student led and I know that The Wizard of Oz will stay in our students memories for a long time. Students had a huge part in putting together the production and our 5/6 students even made major changes to the script to have the setting as Swansea.
I would like to say a big thank you to Sophie Wilson who has once again pulled off a fantastic production as the director. Thank you to Elize Brozgul for directing our musical performances, to Janelle Hall for doing the lighting for the shows and to Bernardette Haneveer for her countless hours she has put into designing and making the costumes. Although she couldn’t be there due to being away, Janine Gadd has been working tirelessly behind the scenes on our props and sets and I would also like to say a big thank you to Janine for all of the work that she has put into the show.
So many other members of our school community have donated their time and effort into ensuring that the show runs smoothly. I would particularly like to thank all of our school staff who donated their time and effort into ensuring that students were in costume and at the right place at the right time. Thank you to Sophie Walch for organising the sound, our School Association for providing food on both nights and to our community volunteers for donating their time to the show. Thank you to Melissa Quinn for organising the tickets, and picking up lots of small jobs that were essential to the running of the show.
I am pleased to say that the show was recorded. Once we receive the recording, we will communicate with you how to access it.
What a wonderful way to finish our school term! I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday break, and we will see you back on Monday 14th October for Term 4.
Kind Regards,
Anna Knowles
