Dear parents, families, students and community members,
There has been lots going on in and around our school over the last week. One of our big events for the week was our Grade 6 Celebration Dinner at Craige Knowe Vineyard. Thank you to all of our families who attended. It was a fantastic way to celebrate our Grade 6's time at Swansea Primary School. Thank you to Glenn for hosting us and making sure that it was a great evening.
Yesterday afternoon, we held transition to our 2025 classes. Thank you to Mrs Phillips for coming in and introducing herself to our students, particularly next year's 4/5/6 class. We are looking forward to next year and we hope that our transition afternoon has helped to alleviate any worries moving into 2025.
I have had the privilege of working with Steve and Linda from the Salvation Army over the past few weeks, taking our Grade 6 Leaders out and about in the community. We have visited May Shaw Health Centre to play bingo with the residents and the Saltshaker Restaurant to make pizzas from scratch in their oven. A big thank you to Steve and Linda for organising these activities and to Bibek at the Saltshaker Restaurant for allowing us to visit.
What a success our silent disco was! It was wonderful to watch all of our students dance around Swan Hall having so much fun. A big thank you to Alcuin for being our DJ, Licka-licious Ice Cream Van for providing ice creams and to our SRC for cooking pizzas for our entire school! It was no mean feat to cook individual mini pizzas for our entire student cohort, but our leaders took it on board and we fed all of our students.
We were lucky to have the Clarence High School Band visit us this week and perform to all our students. We had a full band, with approximately 35 students from Clarence High School playing for us for an hour. Our students enjoyed the performance and it is excellent to have other DECYP schools visit our space. Our 2/3/4 class even got to return the favour, playing their item for Monday's Celebration Assembly to the high school students. This was a great example of a musical opportunity that is available to students.
I am very excited to let you know that after a few technical difficulties, we have our recording available for The Wizard of Oz Musical. The link can be found here: evening performance - YouTube Happy viewing!
I am pleased to announce that Sophie Wilson has won an Acting Assistant Principal role at Triabunna District School for the 2025 school year. I know that our current Grade 6 students will be happy to hear that she is moving to Triabunna with them, and our former students at Triabunna will love to have her working with them once again. Good luck Mrs Wilson!
I have included below photos from our silent disco, making pizzas at the Saltshaker Restaurant and our transition afternoon. Further below in this newsletter will be photos from our Celebration Dinner. I hope to see every one at Monday's Celebration Assembly, beginning at 1:15pm in the Swan Hall. One week to go!

On Tuesday 10th December, we held our Grade 6 Celebration Dinner at Craige Knowe Vineyard. It was an excellent evening and we would like to thank Glenn for having us. Students were farewelled by the staff in front of their families and many fond memories of their time at Swansea Primary School were shared. We wish good luck and all the best to Hattie, Xavier, Harry, Emily, Georgia and Sophie.
We have some families who no longer have children with us after this year, and we wish them farewell from our school community. Thank you to the Woolnough, Haneveer, Travalia and Hay-Hinds families for their continued support of our school!
