As the final hours of Term 2 draw to a close I’d like to acknowledge the work done by so very many of our students, staff and parents in our school community and wish everybody a safe, happy and restful holiday break.
It is hard to believe we are halfway through 2021. Congratulations again, to all of our students and teachers for the extraordinary amount of work which has gone into our academic progress reports. Together as a staff, we look forward to welcoming families to our Parent Teacher Interview sessions to be held during Week 1 of Term 3. More information and a booking request will be sent out shortly via Schoolzine. These interviews will provide parents with a chance to discuss their child’s progress and for teachers to share student goals for improvement.
Thank you and well done to all of the students who have represented SPS during this busy Term. During our Gala Sports Days at Bicheno, at our East Coast Schools’ Colour Run, SPSSA Cross Country Carnival and our netballers who participated in the St. Helen’s Net Set Go Program at Bicheno. Next term, Tom Spykers, Bicheno Primary School Principal is running a Basketball ‘Aussie Hoops’ program and I encourage all students who are able to, to participate. These experiences have been overwhelming positive and helped to build a sense of community amongst our schools and the children living on the East Coast. The enjoyment, camaraderie and school spirit generated has been a wonderful addition to our co-curricular and a highlight of this busy term for me.
Happy holidays!

This term our class has been working together to document our learning during Mathematics lessons. We have been noticing the mathematical vocabulary we use and have been recording these as our maths words. We have also been recording our learning in our workbooks and taking lots of photos. Here is a video we made using the photos. We hope you enjoy it.
On Wednesday the 30th of June, Kinder and Grade 4/5/6 joined forces in the Cottage to enjoy some buddy reading and maths. Our students looked at various patterns and have learned how to change a simple pattern into a complex pattern during circle time. The grade 4/5/6 students supported their Kinder buddies in selecting materials from the classroom to create their patterns. The buddy groups then made their patterns together and recorded their learning by transferring the concrete materials into drawings.
