What a wonderful fortnight we've had at Swansea Primary and we've ended it with two fun filled days.
On Thursday we held our annual Swan Vs Oyster carnival. It was a huge success with Swan taking out the final win of the day. All students demonstrated our school values of Courage and Respect. The event was a real team effort with Stuart arriving early to set up and oh, what a sight it was, seeing him blower vac the damp lawn and lanes to reduce the risk of students slipping over in the 800m event scheduled for a 9am start. Luckily for us, the rain held off and the sun shone brightly.
Special thanks to Miss Sophie Walch for a highly organised and fun day - and her first carnival at SPS. Congratulations everyone!
On Friday I had the absolute pleasure of cooking with the Upper Primary class during Sustainable Learning to prepare Nacho Bowls for the Early Primary and Upper Primary classes while the Middle Primary Class had their first Outdoor Ed. Excursion to the Douglas Apsley National Park. What a wonderful week we've had! Special thanks to Miss Sophie Walch for organising two fun filled days of physical activity and wellbeing.
On Wednesday I began working with the Prep student on their phonetic knowledge, one on one to gather information for our 2022 School Improvement Plan (SIP) priority - Writing with a focus on phonic knowledge and word recognition, punctuation and sentence structure to improve student writing outcomes at a whole school level. We will be exploring the National School Improvement Tool (NSIT) to reflect upon our Systematic Curriculum Delivery and Effective Pedagogical Practises here in preparation for our External Review which has been postponed until later this year.
I'd like to thank our families once again, for adhering to our COVID-19 safety requirements and please remember – in a school setting, facemasks are mandatory for all visitors while indoors on-site.
It certainly hasn't felt like a short week for us here at SPS and I’m sure the students will sleep well over the coming days. Enjoy your weekend.

Could you please check your child's uniform, we have a lot of lost jackets and hats that may have been taken home in the wrong bag.
Please ensure all items are clearly named.

The Early Primary Learners enjoyed spending the afternoon with Ditto and his friends. Ditto taught us three important safety rules which tie in so perfectly with this term's whole class Respect Inquiry.
They are:
- We have the right to feel safe with people.
- It's ok to say 'NO' if you feel unsafe or unsure.
- Nothing is so yucky that you can't tell someone about it.
Today we sent home some Ditto activity booklets that were provided by the Bravehearts education program. Our Early Years learners are not expected to complete these independently however we do encourage families to have a go at supporting their child to work through the booklet, one page at a time, if their child is interested in doing so.
The photographs we have uploaded are a wonderful example of the respectful listening bodies our Early Years learners have been working hard to develop this term.
Grade 4/5/6/ Woodwork
What a wonderful start to Woodwork it has been for 2022. Group 1 have finished their trucks and Group 2 have made a great start. It is truly a pleasure to watch our young learners develop their skills within such a beautiful space. We are very fortunate to be able to make use of the Community Hub and spend time with our very talented volunteers. A big thank you to Steve, Pia and Craig for supporting us in our woodworking endeavours!
Yours in creativity,
Mrs Sparshott
