Sincere apologies for the delay in this fortnight’s communication – a week late and it is on me! The busyness of Term 4 is well upon us and the staff and students have shown courage, growth and aspiration in these busy times. Over the past fortnight students have represented the school in various activities from SPSSA Swimming to the Remembrance Day Service and I would like to thank all students for showing our Department values of respect and courage during these opportunities.
This week I have enjoyed meeting our 2023 Kinder families and conducting Pre-Kinder interviews to meet with our new students. They have been very brave!
This past fortnight has seen many of our teaching staff attend various Professional Learning opportunities from Trauma Informed Practice, to leading change towards improved reading outcomes for ALL students with Misty Adoniou to increasing popular Family Partnerships Model (FPM) and I look forward to sharing and practising this new knowledge and skills with you and your children over the coming weeks.
I look forward to welcoming all of our Grandparents, Special visitors and Volunteers to our Week 6 Assembly on Friday 25th November from 9am followed by a shared Devonshire Tea.
What a fabulous learning time we've had in our middle primary class this week! Grade 3's have loved their woodwork classes, creating pencil boxes out of pine. Mrs Wells has introduced the robots, which were definitely a hit! We've had more fun with handwriting and counting Australian currency for our maths/garden inquiry. We've also had a great time playing a new game named Phonopoly, which encompasses phonic learning, word/sound recognition and addition to keep score. Please enjoy the photos of your child's learning across this variety of curriculum areas.
This week we also farewell our delightful student teacher, Hayley Spencer. Miss Spencer has been a wonderful addition to our class and we thank her dearly for all the kindness and care that she has shown our students. All the best Miss Spencer!

On Tuesday, students from grade 3-6 participated in a one hour session with Ian from Red Cross called the Pillowcase Program. Ian spoke about the importance of being prepared for emergencies and reassured us that we can be prepared by considering what items could fit into a pillowcase should we be required to leave our homes quickly.
An activity was to decide what items would be essential in an emergency kit, which lead to lots of thinking, discussion and reasoning among group members.
