We hope you're having a fantastic fortnight! We have some exciting news and important reminders to share with you:
School Satisfaction Surveys
Over the past two weeks, our 3-6 students have participated in our annual Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey. Their feedback is invaluable in helping us create a better learning environment. Thank you to all the students who took part!
Today is the last day for parents and community members to complete the School Satisfaction Survey for Swansea Primary School. Your input is crucial in guiding the direction of our school. It only takes about 5 minutes to complete. If you haven’t done so already - Please follow this https://ncv.microsoft.com/3pTeBhke62 to access the online survey. Your feedback matters.
Library Refurbishment
I would like to sincerely thank you all for your support and understanding during the removal of asbestos-containing material from the library last week. We're thrilled to share that Paradigm has successfully completed this crucial phase, and we are now eagerly looking forward to Batchelor Construction resuming their work on Tuesday. While there may be a slight adjustment to the construction program, we are confident that the end result will be well worth the wait.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff are of the utmost importance to us, and your cooperation and patience in this matter have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful to have such a supportive school community. We can't wait to see the finished works and witness the positive impact the new library space will have on our school.
Reading Priority
Our dedicated staff members have been working together on DECYP's reading priority and looking into a tiered and systematic approach to reading intervention across the school in 2024. We are committed to providing the best literacy education for our students and have explored some new Multi-Tiered System Supports (MTSS) we will be sharing with you early in Term 1 2024.
Move Well Eat Well Policy Update
We're also excited to share that starting from Term 4, we will be implementing improvements to our Move Well Eat Well Policy, including:
- Daily fitness activities four days a week.
- "Nude Food Day" with fun activities like fruit and veg sculpture and trying unusual fruits and vegetables.
- "Wheels Wednesday" promoting active transportation to and from school.
- After School Sports programs.
- Breakfast club for our students.
Student Led Conferences
We're looking forward to welcoming families into our classrooms next week for Student-Led Conferences. It's a wonderful opportunity to see the amazing progress our students have made. We will also have a special end of Term 3 Assembly to celebrate student achievements and we hope you can join us face to face or online via the following link:https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_YjFjOTc2NzYtNDJiOC00MzI5LTk4NDgtMzMxZDI3NjFjM2E4%40thread.v2/0?context=%7B%22Tid%22%3A%22a9be3ac7-0c60-491e-8b3b-a32f8f46aec8%22%2C%22Oid%22%3A%22f1d89036-c21d-471f-bdea-3bdab5fbdf4b%22%2C%22IsBroadcastMeeting%22%3Atrue%2C%22role%22%3A%22a%22%7D&btype=a&role=a
Fundraising for Canberra
Our preparations and fundraising efforts for the 2023 Canberra Trip are well underway. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us by taking a Cadbury's Box and/or purchasing raffle tickets. Ticket sales are available at the school office and are selling fast! Don't miss out on a chance to win an extraordinary prize, as there are only 125 tickets available, giving you a 1 in 5 chance of winning!
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we make Swansea Primary School an incredible place for our students to learn and grow.
Student Led Conference (SLC) Preparations

In preparation for our SLCs next week, students have been finishing off learning inquiries and selecting work samples they feel most proud and wish to share with their families. Once selected, students have been reflecting on the learning growth each piece of work demonstrates. The next step has involved writing their first ideas, seeking feedback, editing, and then compiling their final written reflections into their SLC journals.
In addition to this we have been updating and co-creating our learning goals for the remainder of the year and identifying the next steps required to achieve these aspirational learning goals.
Overall, a valuable week of hard work and reflection, developing our inquiry learning asset skills as thinkers, communicators, researchers, collaborators, and self-managers.
We look forward to sharing our journeys with you next week!
Sunscreen, Water Bottle, and Hat Reminder
Dear Families,
Please ensure your child is coming to school with a full drink bottle each day. Students will continue to have access to the school’s water dispenser during Recess and Lunch play, however during class time, it is important that students have access to their own drink bottle as it is difficult to organise additional supervision for trips to the water dispenser.
School will continue to provide sunscreen to students however if you wish for your child to use a specific type please send to school in your child’s bag with their name.
Our Place Called Swansea
Over the past few weeks, Grade 3/4 have been focusing on our Swansea local area in HASS. We have adventured into the field to visit a number of historical buildings and the East Coast Heritage Museum. Our adventure took us to Morris's Store, Meredith House, All Saints Anglican Church, the museum, Jubilee Park for lunch and play, Schouten House and the Swansea Anglican Cemetery. Each building was photographed so we can include these in our Swansea brochures, along with the information we gathered. These buildings will be compared to show the features that have been updated and those that remain unchanged.
Our buildings are currently being recreated with the help of 3D shape nets in a maths/HASS/Art focus. These models are being meticulously developed with a variety of natural materials. These will be on display in our Student Led Conferences next week, so please book in and come and share in our fabulous learning!

The Grade 5/6 students have made a diorama of a biome. A biome is a large region of Earth that has a certain climate and certain types of living things.
