It is hard to believe we are halfway through Term 4 and there are only 27 school days remaining in 2024.
I am excited to report that after being closed since late July, we will be officially reopening our community library and the new outdoor learning space and specialist support offices on December 5th. The library has undergone a massive transformation – it's now more modern, fresher, brighter, and an even more welcoming space. It will have brand new shelving and furniture and we can't wait for you to see the amazing changes that have taken place.
A significant highlight of the term has been the success of the Year 5/6 Canberra trip. Our students embarked on a journey of learning, discovery, and camaraderie that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on their academic and personal development. The experiences fostered a deeper understanding of our nation's history and democratic roles and responsibilities. I would like to wholeheartedly thank the year 5/6 class for representing Swansea Primary School so well, their behaviour and their resilience when we didn’t land on the tarmac in Hobart until 1:40am on Friday 10th November made me very proud.
Yesterday, Mrs Sparshott and I shared some other exciting news – we have scheduled a Year 4 overnight camp to be held at Hagley Farm School in Week 9 this year. Students were delighted and are eagerly awaiting their turn for camp which is such a wonderful opportunity for teamwork, outdoor learning, and building lasting memories. It promises to be a valuable experience that complements our academic curriculum and promotes personal and social development.
In our collective commitment to providing a world-class education, all staff have participated in professional learning this term in two main areas Problem Solving and Literacy. I am thrilled to announce we are in the very early stages of successfully implementing a new literacy initiative, Promoting Literacy Development or PLD. All our teaching staff including TA’s have completed the required training, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to elevating literacy standards across our school.
Looking ahead to 2024, I am pleased to share with you that staffing for 2024 has now been finalised. In 2024, we will remain with the 4 class structure a Kinder/Prep, Grade 1/2, Grade 3/4/5, and Grade 5/6.
Today we gathered to celebrate Volunteers and Grandparents Day, and on behalf of all of the students and staff, I would like to thank our guests for the invaluable contribution they make in the lives of our students. Grandparents, with their wealth of wisdom and unconditional love, play a vital role in shaping the lives of our students. Their stories, experiences, and nurturing presence provide a unique and enriching perspective to our school community. Similarly, our dedicated volunteers, through their selfless commitment and tireless efforts, contribute significantly to the well-being and success of our school. They embody the spirit of community and demonstrate the profound impact that individuals can have when they come together for a common cause. Today, we recognise and honour the positive influence of our grandparents and volunteers, acknowledging the immeasurable difference they make in the lives of our students and the vibrancy of our school community. Thank you for joining us today.
What a busy fortnight we have had in the Grade 3/4 class.
Have you ever heard of the water cycle? Maybe you've heard the word evaporation, condensation and precipitation.

Grade 3/4 have been writing personal and formal letters. We have focussed on vocabulary, addresses and their positions and respectful phrasing.
What better way to put these skills to use, than writing to Santa to politely request an elf?
Will Elfie the Elf return in 2023? Or perhaps another elf will visit us?
Who knows?

Daily PE
The grade 5/6 students plan and run 15 minute daily PE sessions every school day. The 5/6 leaders change and adapt their sessions each week so that students are learning new skills and games. The leaders demonstrate their planning, coordinating and leadership skills.
It’s great to see all students being active and playing together.

Term 4 Parent Conversations 2023
Parent Teacher Conversations Term 4
22/112023
Dear Families,
Parent/Carer Teacher meetings for Prep-6 students will commence on Monday 11th December and finish on Wednesday 13th December.
The purpose of these conversations is to provide an opportunity for the teacher, parents and/or carers to share and learn more about the student socially, emotionally, and academically.
They are a good way to establish and maintain collaborative relationships regarding your child's academic achievement, celebrate growth and provide information about their wellbeing whilst at school or at home.
After the meeting:
- Be sure to check in with your child and talk about what was discussed,
- Celebrate their achievement or growth
- Follow up on any agreed actions
- Continue to communicate with your child's teacher/s about their progress.
To book a time slot please visit: https://swanseaps.schoolzineplus.com/view-session/10 and complete the form to secure your session/s. Please note, Parent Teacher meetings run for 10 minutes duration.
If you require a longer appointment, please visit, or email your child’s classroom teacher to make alternate arrangements.
We look forward to seeing you.
Kind Regards
Kristy Hay
Principal
