Health and Physical Education:
This year in Health and Physical Education students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of different activities such as ride to school day, walk to school day, Swan vs Oyster Athletics, SPSSA Athletics Carnival, Grade 3-5 Swimming and Water Safety Program, K-2 Learn to Swim, 3-6 Swimming Squad training, Cross Country Carnival, SPSSA Cross Country, Winter Sports Day, Colour run and after school sports such as Tennis, Soccer, Netball and Athletics.
Kinder/ Prep Health and Physical Education:
The Kinder/Prep Physical Education program focuses on the development of fundamental movement skills. Students practised and developed skills such as:
Object Control Skills- Throwing, catching, kicking, bouncing and striking.
Locomotor skills such as: Walking, running, hopping, skipping, galloping, leaping, sliding, dodging, jumping and landing.
Auditory motor skills- Directional awareness, spatial awareness, patterns, memory, shapes, numbers and letters.
Vestibular skills - Rolling, spinning, balance, agility, scooter boards, and jumping activities.
Lateralisation skills- Unilateral, bilateral and cross lateral movement.
In Health, students have explored concepts such as friendship, personal hygiene, healthy food and nutrition, health benefits of physical activity and feelings and emotions.
Grade 1/2 Health and Physical Education:
The Grade 1/2 Physical Education program focuses on developing fundamental motor skills in the units; Athletics, Minor Games, Cross Country, Striking skills, AFL, Dance, Tennis and Aquatics.
Students practised and developed skills such as:
