Grade 456 Parliament House Excursion

Dear Families

As you may already be aware, the 456 students are currently learning about Democracy in Australia for HASS this term. To culminate our learning, an excursion to Parliament House Hobart is on today Tuesday the 24th of June to observe the House of Assembly sitting. The students will also visit the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery to explore and learn about the nature of Lutruwita/Tasmania.

When the students arrive in Hobart, they will have their morning tea in the Parliament House Gardens. We will then visit Parliament House from 10:15am -11:45am. The 456 Students will observe the House of Assembly sitting and then go across to the Legislative Council (not sitting) to hear an explanation about the operation of this beautiful chamber. This excursion will be a precursor to our Canberra trip in Term 3.

After our Parliament House visit, we will walk to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, where we will eat lunch in the courtyard. Following lunch, the 456 students will have an organised tour in the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery which will take place between 12:30 – 1:30pm. The students will then have an opportunity to explore some of the highlights of the gallery as a class till 2:00pm.

The bus to Hobart is leaving school at 7:30am sharp today and we envisage that we will return by 4:30pm.

Students are required to bring:

  • Morning tea
  • Drink bottle
  • A packed lunch
  • Full school uniform
  • A hat

Students are required to follow school behavioural expectations in the lead up to, and on the day of the event. If you have any questions regarding the day, please contact me through the school office. This activity is a Minor Excursion and therefore we do not need any further signed permission forms. If your child has had any changes in medical conditions since the beginning of the year, please let us know. If you do not wish for your child to attend this excursion, please let us know through the school office.

East Coast Cluster Day

East Coast Cluster Day – Term 2 2025

Our East Coast Cluster schools (Orford Primary School, Swansea Primary School, and Triabunna District School) will be participating in an activity day on Friday the 27th of June.

Our Kinder, Prep and Year One students will be having an activities day at TDS, where they will participate in some fun social activities including arts and crafts and plenty of structured play time and games, to develop friendships across the schools and work on many important life skills.

Our Year Two, Three, Four, Five and Six students will be participating in a Cricket Gala Day, organised and conducted by Cricket Tasmania at the Triabunna Recreation Ground. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop new skills or improve existing skills, try a new sport, engage in team sport, and develop new friendships or build upon existing ones. This will be held at the Triabunna Recreation Ground. After these activities, all students will reconvene at Triabunna Recreation Ground for a sausage sizzle and a play before returning to their schools.

Students are required to wear full school uniform, as well as have a packed lunch consisting of lunch and recess, plenty of water, and a warm and happy attitude ready for the day. Please also ensure that all Student Medical Details are correct for 2025 through the school office. If you do not wish for your child to participate in this Minor Excursion, please contact us through the school office. There will be no educational provision provided at Swansea Primary School on this day.

We are looking forward to a fantastic day as a cluster of schools.

Regards,
