What a magnificent start to Term 4, we have had. The AFL After Schools program has kicked off on Tuesday afternoons and the intake has been very positive. Our School Disco has been announced for this coming Wednesday evening from 5pm-6.30pm, planning is underway for a Grade 5/6 onsite camp and Learn to Swim and our Celebration Assembly are on the horizon. With a short week this week, teachers have been busier than ever trying to fit their usual working week into just three days. We have finished off our week today with a full day of professional learning. Our first session this morning was 'Behaviour Management First Aid' with Michele Chen where we talked through the changing culture of SPS, the improvements we have seen and worked collaboratively to iron out any areas that need more work. We are proud of the student’s response to this initiative and are working hard to embed best practise around behaviour management and our vision of "working together to grow through quality teaching and learning". Values stickers have been coming home like confetti and it has been heart-warming to hear of the marvellous things we are doing collectively to build a safe, supportive and collaborative culture. This is the work we have been concentrating on through the eyes of Dr. Robert Marzano and his team at the Marzano Institute. We have been learning together about the notion of High Reliability Schools. This has been deemed as the 'right work' and will be our collective focus for the remainder of our journey together this year during our professional learning (PLC) sessions.
You will see on Monday a parent survey - hard copy come home to every household and we would appreciate your feedback as this data is crucial for supporting our future and will shape the pathway of future endeavours, be it schoolwide development, professional development or culture driven change. We really value your input and with only 11 families out of 48 represented in the recent School Satisfaction survey, it would be great to have at least 50% of our families could participate to help us gather more robust data. This survey is anonymous and will be collated in the front office with deliveries compiled in a basket for your confidentiality. If you could return the survey by no later than Friday 30th October, it would be very much appreciated.
Enjoy the rest of your long weekend!
