SPS RULES - Sickness / COVID 19 WHS
According to the health professionals, it is the teachers, administation staff and Education Facility Attendants, who are most 'at risk' of contracting COVID-19 in a school setting. With this in mind, we have put in place several measures to reduce the risk at Swansea Primary School. To adhere to the Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws which require all employers to take care of the health and safety of their workers by providing and maintaining a work environment that is without risk to health and safety; and providing adequate facilities for staff to carry out their work, we ask:
1. For all students to be dropped off and collected from the fire hydrant. There will be two staff on duty, one for the bus children and the other for drop off or collection. Parents/carers will not need to enter any school buildings at this time. The school bus will be operating as usual and times will remain the same as Term 1.
2. If you need to speak to the Principal, office staff or your child's teacher, please call the office or email to make an appointment.
3. ***If your child shows any flu like symptoms, whatsoever, please do not send them to school. If they arrive at school or show any symptoms throughout the day, you will be called to collect your child immediately.
4. Lastly, we ask for your patience and support, and to unite with us as we are all in this together!
Thank you.
Are your children returning to school next week?
Please let the school know your intentions as soon as possible by emailling Mrs Hay or the school office at swansea.primary@education.tas.gov.au.
Initially, we are expecting only some students to attend face-to-face, followed by more and more, as the term progresses and conditions with the COVID-19 health situation improves.
The advice remains the same, stay home and save lives.
Term 2 will be unlike any other. All students, those who attend school sites and those who will be learning remotely, will be provided with the same learning opportunities, delivered via CANVAS, our online learning platform. This will be the case, for now atleast, until social distancing measures are relaxed.
On Monday 27th April, teachers will make contact with families to touch base, check in and explain what is being offered and how to access and support their child's learning remotely if required. Depending on ratios and attendance, which will be monitored daily, students may be supervised by a staff member who may, or may not be their usual classroom teacher.
If you are able to supervise your child's online learning at home, we encourgae you to take up this opportunity, however, school is open and we look forward to seeing you all there soon. We would love COVID-19 to disappear and go back to "business as usual"!
Take care,
Kristy Hay

School Levies Relief – Refund Process
The health, safety and wellbeing of Tasmanians is our number one priority as we face the challenges of COVID-19 together.
Refunding school levies paid to Government schools is one way we are trying to reduce financial pressures on parents and carers during this crisis. The Government has fast tracked work to develop and implement a safe and secure process for parents/carers to provide their bank details to enable reimbursements directly into bank accounts.
From today until 1 May a simple on-line form and related instructions have been made available here: https://levyrebate.education.tas.gov.au
The online form can be completed on a computer, lap-top, tablet or mobile phone with internet capabilities. Safety and security steps have been built into this process to ensure complete confidentiality for parents/carers.
Once validation has occurred and the on-line form is completed and submitted the reimbursement of funds will occur within five business days.
DoE will offer an alternative arrangement where this online option may not be possible.

This site will support families and students with resources and ideas for learning at home. We will add to this information over time to ensure there is a range of learning options.
Learning at home for any period of time may bring joy and challenges. You will find some advice to support you to manage your child or young person’s learning and to stay healthy, safe, and connected. To support learning at home, you are not required to be an expert or trained educator. Your knowledge of a child’s strengths and interests will support creating reasonable expectations.
