Excitement is an understatement for the 5/6 class today as we finally embark on our countdown trip to Canberra! We've all arrived safely at Hobart Airport, passed through security smoothly, and are now eagerly awaiting our on-time departure. The anticipation is palpable, and we can't wait to explore Australia's capital city.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone, near and far, who has supported this wonderful opportunity for our students. Your encouragement and generosity mean the world, and we're excited to make the most of this educational adventure.
Throughout our journey, we will be sharing regular updates and highlights, so stay tuned for all the exciting experiences and discoveries along the way. Our students are ready to learn, explore, and create lasting memories.
Here's to an unforgettable trip filled with knowledge, fun, and adventure.
Did you know that the fencing that separates our play area from the library expansion has 6,455 right angles?
Right angles have been our spotlight in maths this week. We have been learning about identification, terminology (such as perpendicular, degrees and protractor) and drawing and measuring right angles with a high level of accuracy. Next week we will move onto other angles and their identification and measurement.
Our Science lessons have us enquiring about what type of soil a bean seed will grow best in. We are monitoring our seeds closely and making observations and predictions about what we can see.
Grade 3/4 will be spending next week with Mr Lachy Smith while I am in Canberra with Grade 5/6. I'm sure it will be a wonderful week of learning and look forward to hearing all about it when I return on Monday the 13th of November.

Students from our school will soon be undertaking, an education tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a cariety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture, heritage, and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $1050.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon competion of the excursion.
Every school day matters campaign
Turning up matters
Welcome back to Term 4! We hope you enjoyed school holidays, and are ready for another exciting term.
We all want the best for our children – for their futures to be as bright as possible. Showing up every day to school really matters. It gives your child every chance to learn, grow and find their interests.
This last stretch of the school year can sometimes be tricky. Keep it up, because each day is another chance to:
- be around friends
- learn new things
- find interests
- create dream futures (whatever that may be!).
If you’re looking for tips on how to create better attendance habits, visit the Anything can happen website.
Please always talk to us if you’re having trouble getting your child to school. We’re here to help.

All children in Tasmania have a right to be known, safe, well and learning. We are highly committed to the safety of all students at our school.
Earlier this month, DECYP launched the Tell Someone initiative, to raise awareness in the community about child sexual abuse and grooming.
The Tell Someone website gives children and young people clear advice on what to do in situations where they feel worried, unsafe or unsure. It also gives adults advice and support on how to respond if they suspect or know a child is being groomed or sexually abused or is at risk of harm.
Please visit the website, read the information, and try to find a suitable time to talk with your children about this issue and the resources available. It’s important that you both understand the possible signs of sexual abuse or grooming behaviour, and how to stay safe online and offline.
If reading this information has caused you distress, please visit DECYP’s website for a list of support services.
Please contact the school if you have any questions about this information.
We are getting very excited about the building works and redevelopment of our shared community library, online access centre, specialised meeting spaces and new outdoor learning area - on schedule to be completed by 1st of December.
